Masters


Mr. Larley graduated from KNUST with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Technology and Management (CTM) in 2016. In 2024, he received a certificate in Global Road Safety Leadership at Johns Hopkins University. He has more than fifteen years of professional experience and has been a Chief Technical Officer at the Building and Road Research Institute (CSR-BRRI), Kumasi, since 2019. He was selected as a Fogarty scholar in January 2025 and is pursuing an MSc program in transport systems at KNUST. He is working to complete his coursework.

She has more than 9 years of nursing experience. She obtained a registered nurse degree and a BSN from KNUST in 2013. She pursued further education from 2016-2017, obtaining a Diploma in Education from the University of Education, Winneba, in Ghana. She has worked in several hospitals in Ghana, including in charge of an emergency ward and as a tutor at Fomena-Adansi Nurses and Midwifery Training College. She was selected as a Fogarty scholar in December 2022. 
Research Topic: Trauma-related amputations among children; experiences of children and caregivers’ post-amputation.
Degree Title: MPhil Nursing Degree at KNUST.  


She graduated from KNUST with a Bachelor of Science in Disability, Rehabilitation, and Development in 2021. Before 2023, she was a teaching and research assistant in the School of Public Health. She also worked as a tutor (Intern) at the Garden City Special School in Kumasi since 2020. She was selected as a Fogarty scholar in January 2024.
Research Topic: Exploring the period prevalence and predictors of epilepsy-related injuries among children: a case study of Komofo Anokye Teaching Hospital. 
Degree Title: MPhil in Disability Rehabilitation and Development at KNUST (November 2025)


He graduated from the University of Cape Coast with a BA in Economics and Sociology in 2013. He currently works as a research officer at the Emergency Medicine Directorate in Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi. Since 2013, he has worked on a wide variety of research projects, including several related to injury. He was selected as a Fogarty scholar in January 2023 and graduated in November 2024.

Research Topic: Epidemiological features and outcomes of occupants of auto-tricycle crashes: a descriptive study of auto-tricycle related injuries in Kumasi.
Degree Title: Master of Public Health (specializing in Health Services Planning and Management).


He has 4 years of medical experience. He obtained a BSc in Human Biology in 2017 and a Bachelor of Medicine in 2020, both from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He has gained much experience working at several district hospitals and currently works as a physician at the district hospital in the Bosomtwe district, Ashanti Region. He was selected as a Fogarty scholar in January 2024. 
Research Topic: An evaluation of health referral systems in primary healthcare facilities for the management of trauma-related emergencies in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
Degree Title: MPH in Health Services Planning and Management at the KNUST. 


She has about 20 years of nursing experience. She obtained a degree as a registered nurse from the Nurses Training College, Kumasi, in 2004 and a BSN from Garden City University College (in Kumasi) in 2013. She has worked at several health centers and district hospitals, often in managerial roles. She was selected as a Fogarty scholar in March 2022.
Research Topic: Understanding the physical health consequences of physically and emotionally traumatized elderly persons.
Degree Title: MPhil Nursing Degree at KNUST


He graduated from KNUST with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Science in 2013. He further pursued a Diploma in Montessori Education from the O.B.F., UK, in 2017 and an International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety from NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health), UK, in 2020. Before 2023, he was an administrative director managing a private school. He was selected as a Fogarty scholar in January 2024. Research

Topic: Evaluating the effectiveness of seizure-related injury prevention strategies employed by caregivers and individuals with epilepsy in the Shai Osudoku district
Degree Title: MPhil in Disability Rehabilitation and Development at KNUST.

He has about 12 years of experience as a physics teacher in second-cycle schools. He obtained a BSc degree in physics with a specialization in Geophysics from KNUST in 2009. He then further pursued a Diploma in Education from the University of Education, Winneba, in 2017. He currently works as a physics tutor at Opoku Ware School of the Ghana Education Service. His thesis topic is on 
Research Topic: The effect of aerosols on road safety in southern Ghana.
Degree Title: MPhil Meteorology and Climate Science at KNUST


She has about 10 years of nursing experience. She obtained a degree as a registered nurse from the Nurses and Midwifery Training College, Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Accra, in 2011 and a BSN from Central University College (in Accra) in 2014. She pursued further education from 2016-2017, obtaining a Diploma in Education from the University of Education, Winneba, in Ghana. She has worked at several Poly Clinics and district hospitals, often at the theatre. She was selected as a Fogarty scholar in December 2022.

Currently, she is a tutor at the only Ear, Nose, and Throat Nursing Training College in Ghana, increasing the institution's capacity for injury research.
Research Topic: Traumatic Injuries associated with working in the meat processing industry in Kumasi
Degree Title: MPhil Nursing Degree at KNUST.

About Us

Kumasi Injury is a research collaboration between Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi Ghana and University of Washington (UW), Seattle USA. Its agenda is to strengthen injury control research in Ghana and West Africa. The program is solidly grounded on a history of collaboration in injury research, which started in 1995 and has received funding through Fogarty International Center (FIC), National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA since 2006.
